A 13,260sqm four-pavilion faculty building shortlisted for the 2023 RIBA Stirling Prize, featuring smooth finished concrete with expressed slab-edge details alongside sculptural timber interiors.
The Faculty of Arts building at the University of Warwick comprises 13,260sqm of teaching, office and academic space arranged across four light-filled pavilions set around a grand central stair.
In place of a conventional atrium, a sculptural timber stair spirals through a series of studio, exhibition and event spaces at ground level.
The timber detailing sits in deliberate contrast to large expanses of plain smooth finished concrete, with expressed feature details at the slab edges of each pavilion.
The building was shortlisted for the 2023 RIBA Stirling Prize.
