Harry Hobbs

Harry Hobbs

Managing Director

Harry joined Whelan & Grant as a trainee in 2006 and was sponsored through his construction management degree. After graduating, he spent seven years gaining groundworks expertise on large-scale projects before returning in 2021 to launch the groundworks division. Now Managing Director, Harry oversees strategic direction, operations, and the continued growth of the business.

Brian Gilbert

Surveying Director

Brian joined Whelan & Grant in 2002 after 15 years with national contractors Kier and Norwest Holst. Now Surveying Director, he oversees all commercial management including cost control, procurement, and supply chain, bringing over two decades of experience to every tender and project.

Ben Smith

Ben Smith

Engineering Manager

Ben joined Whelan & Grant in 2005 and now oversees all engineering and surveying across the business. From site survey control and setting out to construction programming and technical support, he's the person project teams turn to when they need to get things right first time.

Steve Wood

Contracts Manager

Steve joined Whelan & Grant in 2011 as a project manager and now oversees contracts across both the groundworks and RC frame divisions. With nearly 25 years in construction, he's known for keeping a clear head on complex programmes and building strong client relationships along the way.

Tom Holloway

Tom Holloway

Operations Manager

Tom joined Whelan & Grant in 2025 after starting on the tools at 18 and working his way up through supervision and project management. He now oversees the planning and delivery of groundworks and RC frame packages, bringing a practical, no-nonsense approach to programming, quality, and getting things done properly.

Group SHEQ Manager

Scott joined Whelan & Grant in 2006 and oversees all health, safety, environmental and quality management across the business. From policy and training to audits and risk management, he's the one making sure everyone gets home safe and standards stay high.

Sarah Sharp

Sarah Sharp

Accounts Manager

Sarah joined Whelan & Grant in 2007 as an accounts assistant and has been keeping the finances running smoothly ever since. She manages everything from subcontractor payments and invoicing to VAT returns and year-end accounts, making sure the numbers add up so the rest of the team can focus on what they do best.

Procurement Manager

Rickey joined Whelan & Grant in 2000 as an office administrator and has grown with the company ever since. Now Procurement Manager, he sources all construction materials for site, supports the estimating team, and keeps the supply chain running so projects have what they need, when they need it.

Alex Triggs

Alex Triggs

Plant and Transport Manager

Alex joined Whelan & Grant in 1996 as a formworker and worked his way up through supervisor and construction manager roles. Now Plant and Transport Manager, he oversees all plant and the vehicle fleet, bringing nearly 30 years of hands-on fairface frame experience to the projects that need it most.

Receptionist and Accounts Assistant

Victoria joined Whelan & Grant in 2009 as a temporary receptionist and never left. Often the first friendly face visitors see, she keeps the office running smoothly day to day, from managing calls and scheduling meetings to processing invoices and wages.
