A 5-storey, 8,600sqm building for the University of East London and Birkbeck University, recognised with a Concrete Society Certificate of Excellence for its exemplary fair-faced concrete detailing.
Built for the University of East London and Birkbeck University, this five-storey fair-faced educational building provides 8,600sqm of mixed learning space and was recognised with a Certificate of Excellence from the Concrete Society.
The spacious, light-filled atrium is the architectural centrepiece, showcasing fine smooth concrete detailing in a feature staircase and exposed upstand walls.
Throughout the building, vast areas of high-quality exposed concrete ceiling serve a dual purpose, acting as thermal mass integrated into the heating and cooling strategy.
