An 11,000 sq.m. plant science research centre set in the University of Cambridge's Botanic Garden.

The building comprises laboratories, support areas, and meeting spaces, together with the University’s Herbarium, a new public cafe and an auditorium.
W&G were engaged at an early stage to provide advice and guidance on the exposed concrete elements and were consulted throughout the build.
There were several challenging areas in the building including a Class 4 Waterproof basement next to a river, large cantilever fair-faced beams and walls, and distinctive exposed concrete beams running around the top and bottom of the building.
The project achieved the accolades of Overall Winner and Building Category Winner from the Concrete Society, was the Civic Trust Awards Winner, achieved the Sterling Prize for architecture and was recognised by the RIBA as the Building of the Year.
