Pears Building, Institute of Immunity and Transplantation, Royal Free London

The Pears Building is a world-class immunology research and treatment centre, five storeys tall and providing 9,000sqm of multi-use space for the Royal Free London.

Set into a steeply sloping site, the structure begins with a split-level basement car park and services area before the cranked building rises above the landscaped gardens.

At its heart is a large open atrium where expansive areas of high-quality exposed fine smooth finished concrete are complemented by acoustic timber cladding, creating a distinctive and considered interior.
