A full groundworks and RC frame package for a landmark five-storey Cambridge office, featuring a waterproof concrete basement and a carefully managed transition between concrete, steel and glulam at first floor.

Lockton House is a landmark five-storey building delivering over 6,000sqm of office space in the heart of Cambridge.
Whelan and Grant took on the project from the outset, delivering the full groundworks and RC frame package.
A fully waterproof concrete basement box provides car parking, cycle storage and welfare facilities, while above ground the feature exposed concrete cores, including staircases and lift frontages, demonstrate an exemplary standard of fine smooth concrete finishing with expressed architectural detailing throughout.
At first floor, the technically demanding transition from concrete frame to steel and glulam structure was carefully managed, with the different material finishes sitting seamlessly alongside one another in the open office space above.
